I've been an Empowerment Self-Defense instructor for over 16 years in Belize, Central America. This book is an excellent resource to get young women (and really women of any age) to pay attention to their environment, make use of their instincts, and be safer in their every day lives. This book reinforces what I teach in my classes and hopefully what many people teach. It's a great tool for someone as an introduction and hopefully impetus for them to take a self-defense course, but also an excellent way to review what's been learned before. I am recommending this book to all of the women and girls who have taken my courses. I look forward to obtaining the other books in this series.

This book is a great introduction to self-defense and awareness for those who have never taken a class, and a great reminder for those who have. An easy-read with thought provoking scenarios, questions and exercises to do at home. A must-read and great gift for all high school and college bound young ladies.

Very important information for everyone, not just girls, to know!

Having taught women's self defense, I found this book very thoughtful and informative. It delves into many more situations than can be covered in a short series of self-defense classes. Even if you have taken self-defense classes, I believe this book will boost a young ladies confidence. From the book: "In situations where running is a poor choice, fighting may be necessary.
