Sorry but so much was changed in Python since 2005... Should of thought about that before buying the book.It doesn't even cover Python 3.0, nuff' said.

When my grand daughter's math teacher recommended she try learning a programming languageover the summer, Python was the obvious choice.Programming Python third edition is the perfect reference book to complement her online learning.With its 25 pages of index, 1500 pages of text and examples,plus all of the examples are provided in machine readable ***.py files,it is the prefect "go to" place for questions and clarifications.

I needed a good reference book for Python 2, and since the latest version is geared towards Python 3, this, the previous version, was a great value.

I'm new to python, not to programming. My programming skill level is beginner, I understand and use classes.Anyway, I was very disappointed that this book did not come with a CD or at least a free copy online. They give you a 45(if my memory serves me right) day trial with Safari Books.As other reviewers mentioned, it doesn't have a good index and it doesn't come with a CD, so it's hard to find info.Also, the examples are horrible. I'm only on chapter 3 and most of the examples are going over my hand. The author will start out with a simple subject like StringIO and then dump it into a code that contains other info not yet covered. After having people explain to me what it does, both them and I fail to see the point of his example. It has no practical use.He also keeps jumping from command line input code to IDE code.So far, this book has been pretty boring, very unpractical and most of all hard to understand. I would definitely not recommend this book to beginners.

This book is one of the biggest books I own. It's amazing that the author was able to fit actual Python code on almost every page. I used to own the first version and I have to say it's definitely gotten better.

Great book to ease your way into programming using command style OS's. Some of the info in this book will even carry over to Linux so its a great book to have for any geek like myself.

Get this book along along with "Learning Python" and you'll be set. Lots of handy stuff. My personal favorites are the sections that show you how to program GUIs and databases. I only wish I'd bought them both at the same time.

I don't think I've come across a bigger deterrent to learning more about python than this book (although "learning python" runs a close second) . It's very heavy on minutiae, and myopic when it comes to larger design issues. I've had mostly great luck with the O'reilly books, but really felt let down by the Python series. Wish I had an alternate recommendation on hand, but I've just started looking elsewhere.

This whole series of books is very well written. They are for adolescents, but are great for adults too. I have read Bob Dylan's other biographies, but enjoyed this just as much,

I bought several of these for my 12-year-old daughter to read. My wife ended up reading them as well. Both of them thoroughly enjoyed all of the "Who Was...?" books and learned new things about each of the people or bands we got.

I read this to my five year old I'm a life long Dylan fan and now so is she! I even learned some new things about Bobby. Glad I got it

My second grader is using this book for a research project. It is easily accessible for kids, but does not pay nearly enough attention to his music career and its impact. It doesn't really admit the existence of the social movements to which his music became the anthem. While I can understand not wanting a lot of heavy-handed political commentary in a book for kids, you can't really understand Dylan without at least touching on it.

Bought this to read to my grandson.Colorful pictures.Haven't yet read it to the boy but imagine he will enjoy the story time.

This was pretty good but will have to be revised now that Dylan has won the Nobel Prize. I also noticed that the author perpetuated the story that Dylan ripped off Dave Van Ronk's version of "House of the Rising Sun," and never said he was sorry. On the contrary, Dave van Ronk tells a different story in his memoir, The Mayor of MacDougal Street [2013 edition]: A Memoir. On pages 177, Van Ronk explains that Dylan asked Van Ronk, "Hey, would iot be okay for me to record your arrangement of 'House of the Rising Sun?'" Van Ronk said he was planning to record it himself, and then Dylan said, "Uh - oh," and explained he'd already recorded it. It is true that Van Ronk got mad at Dylan, but Van Ronk explains that, thanks to the intervention of a friend, "Bob and I shook hands, with Cohen looking on like the adult conciliator of a schoolyard punch-up, and that was it." Van Ronk explains that he later stopped playing the song because people thought he was copying Dylan, and then Dylan stopped playing it because people thought he was copying the Animals, who later recorded it and made a hit out of it. But that's another story.

I'm a big fan of the Who Was/What Was series. My kids have easily read over 50 of them. This one caused some disappointment because it included the fact that one of his wives had been a 'playboy bunny'. It was an unnecessary piece of info for kids who are 6-8 who shouldn't know what a playboy bunny is. That fact truly did not belong in this book.Overall I think this was the least enjoyed of all the who was/what was books. The author didn't link a lot of info together in some parts and it seemed like he was just listing info he researched instead of making a story out of it.

I've also been to Antigua many times, though not as often as Donna and Brian. I can identify with her accounts of beautiful simplicity and frustrating delays that are a part of the rich mosaic of Antiguan life. There is both gay frivolity and sorrow as their year in Antigua closes, and they make their move back to Canada. I think this is an excellent book for the traveler or tourist, or anyone thinking about moving to the beautiful island of Antigua.

I lived on Antigua for four years, as an employee of the US Government, so I am experienced with Antigua.The book is fairly well written giving an interesting perspective about life on Antigua.There are some inaccuracies, so the reader should keep this in mind if planing a long time visit to Antigua.

Our son is currently living and working on the beautiful Island of Antigua and we recently spent a couple of weeks there visiting him. Reading about this couples experiences was both interesting and entertaining, especially as we had been to most of the places they mention in the book.

It's a good read about the realities of moving to and living in Antigua, BWI.It may put you off the idea, or it will prepare you for the quiet life of living on a beautiful island 3 hours from the US.

An enjoyable read, Dancing in the Dining Room offers a day-to-day, ground level account of life in a beautiful but challenging setting. Living in a tropical paradise does not guarantee every single thing will be perfect. This is, however, a good account of friends, determination and compassion.

This book may be of some interest to people who live in or travel frequently to Antigua, since there are references to familiar places on the island, but it is not very well written and does not hold a reader's attention.
