They lived there for a year and Donna sent home e-mails describing the life, the changes and adjustments, the good and the bad that she and Brian experienced. Their insights and stories are valuable for anyone interested in living long-term on a tropical island--especially one that is still a developing nation. I've also been to Antigua many times, though not as often as Donna and Brian. I can identify with her accounts of beautiful simplicity and frustrating delays that are a part of the rich mosaic of Antiguan life. There is both gay frivolity and sorrow as their year in Antigua closes, and they make their move back to Canada. I think this is an excellent book for the traveler or tourist, or anyone thinking about moving to the beautiful island of Antigua.

I lived on Antigua for four years, as an employee of the US Government, so I am experienced with Antigua.The book is fairly well written giving an interesting perspective about life on Antigua.There are some inaccuracies, so the reader should keep this in mind if planing a long time visit to Antigua.

Our son is currently living and working on the beautiful Island of Antigua and we recently spent a couple of weeks there visiting him. Reading about this couples experiences was both interesting and entertaining, especially as we had been to most of the places they mention in the book.

It's a good read about the realities of moving to and living in Antigua, BWI.It may put you off the idea, or it will prepare you for the quiet life of living on a beautiful island 3 hours from the US.

An enjoyable read, Dancing in the Dining Room offers a day-to-day, ground level account of life in a beautiful but challenging setting. Living in a tropical paradise does not guarantee every single thing will be perfect. This is, however, a good account of friends, determination and compassion.

This book may be of some interest to people who live in or travel frequently to Antigua, since there are references to familiar places on the island, but it is not very well written and does not hold a reader's attention.
